What this tool does

Strips common leading number formats such as 1., 1), [1], 001 -, and numbered checklist prefixes while preserving the remaining line content and order.

Common use cases

Remove leading line numbers from copied lists, notes, rows, or checklists before editing, sorting, or republishing text.

Use Remove Line Numbers when pasted text needs counting, cleanup, rewriting, list preparation, formatting, or a final check before it goes into an email, document, CMS, spreadsheet, prompt, or publishing workflow.

How to use it

  1. Paste the numbered text, checklist, notes, or rows you want to clean.
  2. Choose whether to trim spaces after the removed number and whether unnumbered lines should stay in the output.
  3. Copy the cleaned lines into your document, spreadsheet, prompt, CMS field, or text cleanup workflow.

Example workflow

Paste the text you need to count, clean, split, join, sort, or reformat. Review the word, character, line, sentence, paragraph, spacing, or list result, then copy the cleaned output into your document, spreadsheet, CMS, prompt, or editor.

Privacy note

Line-number removal runs locally in your browser. Your pasted text is not uploaded or stored.

FAQ

What line number formats can it remove?

It handles common leading prefixes such as 1., 1), [1], 001 -, and similar numbered-list formats at the start of each line.

Will unnumbered lines be deleted?

By default, unnumbered lines stay in place. You can turn off Keep unnumbered lines if you want them blanked in the output.

Does this upload my text?

No. Line-number removal runs locally in your browser and does not send pasted text to ClearUtils servers.
