Text Tools
Add Line Numbers
Add line numbers to pasted text, tasks, notes, keywords, code-like snippets, or spreadsheet rows without uploading your content.
Numbered lines will appear here.
What this tool does
Prefixes each line with configurable numbers, separators, step values, zero padding, and an option to skip blank lines while keeping the original text order.
Common use cases
Add readable line numbers to pasted lists, notes, tasks, rows, or snippets before sharing or reviewing them.
Use Add Line Numbers when pasted text needs counting, cleanup, rewriting, list preparation, formatting, or a final check before it goes into an email, document, CMS, spreadsheet, prompt, or publishing workflow.
How to use it
- Paste the text, list, notes, or rows you want to number.
- Choose the start number, step, separator style, zero padding, and blank-line behavior.
- Copy the numbered output into your document, spreadsheet, checklist, prompt, or QA notes.
Example workflow
Paste the text you need to count, clean, split, join, sort, or reformat. Review the word, character, line, sentence, paragraph, spacing, or list result, then copy the cleaned output into your document, spreadsheet, CMS, prompt, or editor.
Privacy note
Line numbering runs locally in your browser. Your pasted text is not uploaded or stored.
FAQ
Can I choose the starting line number?
Yes. Set a custom start value and step size when you need numbering to continue from another document or checklist.
Can I skip empty lines?
Yes. Turn off Number empty lines to leave blank rows untouched without advancing the counter.
Does this upload my text?
No. Line numbering runs locally in your browser and does not send pasted text to ClearUtils servers.
